Discussion of the area of research. Identify a situation
This assignment asks you to apply your persuasion research and theory on compliance gaining to a current event or personal experience in your life. You will be required to find an applicable research article, discuss the author’s hypothesis, and explain their findings. You will then apply those findings to the current event r personal experience that you have chosen to discuss. The paper’s length will be 4-5 pages, typed and double spaced.The paper asks you to discover research on compliance gaining and then apply it to a specific scenario.Elements of the paper will include:1. Discussion of the area of research. Identify a situation where compliance gaining was either sought out by you or you were the target of a compliance gaining attempt. You will need to describe the situation and the compliance gaining attempts that were employed.2. Explanation of the research article selected as the theoretical basis for your assessment. You will find a research article that discusses the situation you identify in part one. This part of the paper should stress the literature review and the findings of the research. Methodology, while critical to the study’s efficacy, in not critical to our theoretical discussion. The article should reach some conclusions about tactics or argument design which you would discuss.3. Application of your specific scenario to the articles findings indicating if the major premises of the article were confirmed or denied by your scenario.Example1. Lets say that you want to discuss peer pressure among college students. Specifically, you want to talk about peer pressure directed to underage drinking in college dorms. Or I might be an RA and want to know if my drinking has any influence on students.2. The second part would be to find a research article that evaluates the area being discussed. For example, you might research Perkins, H.W., & Berkowitz, A.D. (1986b). Resident advisors as role models: a comparison of drinking patterns of resident advisors and their peers Journal of College student personnel. 27, 146-155.or I might research: Shore, E.R., Rivers, P.C., & Berman J.J. I would then apply the findings of the research article to my personal example to see if my example affirmed or denied the findings of the study.
