Discuss the following Questions:
Consider the culture of an organization you have experience
with, would this case incidence easily have happened there? If not, explain why
one factor related to the culture of high-reliability/high quality from the
list provided in your textbook (review Chapter 3, Tables 3.1 and 3.2) exists to
prevent it? OR If so, explain why one
factor related to the culture of high-reliability/high quality from the list
provided in your textbook (review Chapter 3 Tables 3.1 and 3.2 ) is needed to
prevent it?
Review the QSEN competencies/Prelicensure KSAs at
http://qsen.org/competencies/pre-licensure-ksas/. Considering this case
incidence, answer the following questions
Safety: What could have any of the RNs do to help maintain
the patient safety?
Teamwork-Collaboration: How can the RN work together with
other health care professionals to provide quality patient care and enhance the
patient’s health outcomes?
Informatics: How can technology be used to enhance patient
care?
Quality Improvement: How can one patient-care process be
enhanced to improve the overall quality of patient care?
Remember the rule: Do not identify the organization and its
location and people involved!
