Boundaries and Environments

Based on the reading in the Schein text, pp. 188-190, discuss the concepts of boundary and environment as they apply to your place of employment or another organization you are familiar with. Where does business leave off and the community begin? Are boundaries easy to define?

What environmental factors (physical, social organization, corporate system/structure, public relations, technology, personal) impinge on accomplishing the company’s goals?

Statements can be made about the need for the organization to be adaptable, the type of leadership required, the impact of the environment on the system, survival strategies, etc. Are there any places where your company could manage their environment or boundaries better?

Optional: Have you ever felt conflicted about your role in a company versus your role in society? Do the internal norms within the company reflect similar norms in culture?

· Threaded Discussions simulate traditional classroom discussions in an asynchronous environment. Therefore, to ensure interaction, you are required to do the following:

· To post at least ONE response for each discussion question, as well as, respond and/or react to at least TWO other classmates’ discussions for each discussion question. Therefore, you are required to 1) read any postings already provided by your instructor or fellow students, 2) read and respond to the conclusions drawn by your classmates, and 3) throughout the week, remember to read the feedback to your own original posting and reply.

· To provide a minimum word count for initial posts of 200 words with detailed content that adds to the discussion, and with proper grammar and spelling.

· To reference and use APA formatting as close as possible in your discussions when referring to the academic concept.
